ARRL Classes
EC-001: ARRL Emergency Communications Level 1 certification is recommended for all ARES members.

Also check with local Amateur clubs or your local ARES Emergency Coordinator (EC) for locally taught classes and testing availability.

Other Recommended Courses
Spotter Training: 2010 Severe Weather Spotter Talk Schedule is now available.
It is recommended that spotters attend the basic course approximatly every two years as a refresher.
The IL-ARES web page recomments members should review with your EC your ARES training goals before taking any Department of Homeland Security (DHS) training through their Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Emergency Management Institute (EMI) offerings in the Independent Study Program.

IS-100.a: Introduction to Incident Command System (ICS)
IS-700.a: National Incident Management System (NIMS), An Introduction
